HMCS Ville de Quebec

by Catherine Johnson, @CatherinePoet

At the weekend we took trouble one and trouble two with a friend to see the navy ship HMCS Ville de Quebec docked at Windsor to celebrate the memory of 1812.

p.s. the full length ship pictures i.e. better ones are still on Phil’s phone :)

In capable hands

we rest our hopes

for a peaceful tomorrow

  1. I am sure trouble 1 and 2 and friend had a blast!

  2. Sounds like fun! History and big boats – what’s not to like? :)

  3. Growing-up in a small town a comfortable drive from NYC, and now living within range of an equally easy trip to Philadelphia and Baltimore–all of which have fantastic tours of mighty ships–has always been an enormous treat for my four children. A wonderful way to bring history to life at any age.

  4. Fun photos! We took our kids to see the Queen Mary back in California, and they had a blast. So I’m sure yours did, too!

  5. I hope they didn’t let the ‘troubles’ take a shot with those guns.

  6. We have ships like this (Midway) in San Diego, but we haven’t made it there yet. I think the boys are at an age when they would really enjoy it!

  7. Love the photos and the haiku!

  8. I bet the offspring had a great time. As a kid, I got taken to see the battleship Texas, as well as a German U-boat from WWII, and it was a blast.

    Great poem, too :)

  9. Landlocked and loving the pics. Looks like T1 and T2 had a blast on a beautiful day!

  10. The Troubles look like a fine, seafaring crew!

  11. Cool pictures! Looks like you had fun :)

  12. Wonderful pictures! Neat poem. Looks like a perfect family day!

  13. Very fun. Anything that’s large and can move is like catnip for my kids. Looks like yours had a good time.

  14. Looks like a fun time. Each year we spend the night in an air craft carrier or destroyer with the cub scouts. I love it because the girls sleep in the officer area why the men sleep in the bunks. :) I think that’s fair.

  15. Oh that looks like great fun.

  16. I would enjoy this sort of outing. ;-)
