Thinking of Aussies.
(refrain)
I’m stuck up on this roof
My hands are raw
My back aches but
I’m waving over at me mates
I’m stuck up on this roof
It’s happening again
Get in
Get Out
The weather’s back
No time to pack
Get up
Get gone
Where’s this?
Where’s that?
Nevermind.
Is everyone here?
John?
(refrain)
Two cows,
a pig,
a horse
more legs
can’t watch
any more
two cows
a pig,
a horse
any more?
(refrain)
I’ll salvage what I can
from my mind to keep us strong
us Aussies won’t be long
back to work
I’ll not shirk
No time to think
Only survive
(refrain)
This year
Last year
Every year
sigh
Next year?
The following?
I think I might just cry
but
(refrain)

Love Lego Hero Factory my poetic pal. That ‘Thinking of Aussies’ is BODACIOUS! “I’ll salvage what I can from my mind to keep us strong us Aussies won’t be long.” SWEET!

I’m intrigued to know what your inspiration was for this one, Catherine?
The floods are terrible again, Joanna. it was the same last year and I think the year before too. Kat Apel is keeping us informed.
Have been watching the news about the flooding and extreme weather in Austrailia. You poem is so current.
Accidental pun there
My friends in MoP keep us posted.
Strong and evocative!
Very nice. I didn’t know that they were having flood problems
It’s terrible, Erik. Happens so often.
I don’t know if you meant for it to be, but your poem was also funny in addition to being touching, and, yes, sad at the same time.
Actually I felt bad making it funny, Teresa but most of the funny parts that I made up on the dog walk, I forgot by the time I got home (which is probably just as well)
