It’s Groundhog Day! Susanna Hill has a fun post for us on her blog so head on over!
A groundhog shadow
Keep your snow shovel out then
Sledding anyone?
Catherine Johnson, 2013 for month of haiku
Read more groundhog haiku here and here. And some groundhog jokes here.
I think it’s too cold to even look for a shadow.
HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!

Great photos, Catherine!!! And I agree – TOO COLD! It’s 10 degrees at my house, it must be WAY colder in Canada!
It was-7 yesterday and now it’s snowing.
Hi Catherine,
I just love that you colored Phyllis and sent her to ride the school bus, but the poor dear will freeze to death lying in the dead grass. What a hoot!
Happy Groundhog Day!
Tracy
I should have made a coat for Phyllis lol.
Happy Groundhog Day! Phyllis does look cold!
Yes, nevermind fancy dress she says. Get me a hat and a scarf!
Lucky Phyllis! She got to go to school.:) Lovely Haiku, Catherine…thank you for sharing it.
Thanks, Vivian.
I like your haiku. I’m looking for the one by the wayside.
I wrote it a bit too early didn’t I? Early Spring yay!
Great Haiku, Catherine! Looks like Phyllis is playing hide and seek with your dog.
I didn’t notice that before, good hiding, Phyllis. :0)
I love the haiku. Is there a “National Speak only in Haiku Day”?
You should start it up.
I would love to celebrate
And haiku with you.
Lauri it’s month of haiku, we could do a fun blog post all in haiku. What do you say? :0)
I cannot haiku.
Haiku! Haiku! Gesundheit.
I cannot haiku.
Not to worry about Phyllis being cold. She’s has such a lovely fur coat, even Canadian storms cannot chill her.
Oh yes you can
Phyllis needs to hop on that dog and ride home for a bracing cup of cocoa! -7 is pretty cold, Catherine.
Yes, I’m grateful I don’t live out west where -7 is shorts weather
A fine haiku that is truly worthy of that fine, furry meteorologist.
Lol cheers!
Enjoyed the haiku! Brrr. Keep warm.
My teeth began to chatter when I read the temp in your neck of the woods. OUCH! I hope Phyllis had some warm apple cider when she hot inside. BTW, the dog in the background is beautiful!
Thanks Pamela, that’s Sandy. I actually don’t know where Phyllis is, maybe she’s heading for the airport lol.
It looks like Phyllis was incognito. She must have been afraid if she saw her shadow, she would get ran out of town. Given the haiku, she was smart
Did Phyllis enjoy the school bus more or the deep grass more?
Oh I think the grass. Hannah was crushing her.
You did a great job! I’ll bet your kids loved this!
