Hmmm — guess I’m looking at this from a very different perspective. I think if takes great intetgrity and humility to step away as Pope. For me it shows his deep love for the office and the people. And, I’m not Catholic. I admire what he’s done! I find it fascinating from a spiritual viewppoint.
